about us

The Complete Pack provides dog walking services to clients in the Berkeley flatlands and parts of Oakland.  Dogs are collected from their home and join their pack companions for a one hour (minimum) mostly off-leash adventure/hike through a rotating assortment of parks throughout the East Bay before being dropped off at home, again.  On hot days, dogs are often taken somewhere where they can swim.  On cooler days, dogs may hike through the hills.  Rain or shine, our pack dogs get the exercise, structure, and social engagement they need, and you get the tired and calm dog you want.

When Junko and her husband brought their first dog, Choko, home from the shelter, they had no idea how to deal with him.  He was a "menace", a "terror".  He was making their lives miserable, but they loved him and were determined to learn how to deal with him.

They met Kathy Kear, of Cause and Effect dog training, and she trained them how to be pack leaders and showed them how surprisingly long dogs need to exercise every day in order to be balanced and follow.  Soon, Choko's behavior completely changed and Junko started working for Kathy as a dog walker.  Eventually, Junko bought the dog walking side of Kathy's business and started The Complete Pack.  Our approach is based on dog psychology and behavior and we guide our packs with love and leadership. We work hard to build strong bonds with each of our pack members. We, as a team, want to support and guide dogs who may feel anxious or fearful, so that each of our members can fully enjoy the beautiful nature the East Bay offers. We practice calmness and structure to help our pack stay in a balanced state of mind. Also, we believe leash manners are extremely important. Each of pack member will learn how to walk on leash before they get to be off leash. Junko has studied under various dog trainers and dog handlers (such as Cesar Milan, Cheri Lucas and Jonathan Czinder of Oregon Tails) to deepen her knowledge and skills at handling any type of dog. We truly believe all dogs deserve to enjoy nature and hang out with their own kind.
